drives in animals

 The MEDICRAFT OBSTRUCTION BOX is a standard apparatus to measure the strength of a rat’s drive. The obstacle used is held constant during all trials. The estimate of the strength of a rat’s drive is based on the nature of its behaviour in relation to the obstacle rather then on the magnitude of the obstacle which it will overcome.

The apparatus consists of :-

bullet

An entrance compartment in which the rat is placed and allowed to enter the tunnel by a slide door.

bullet

The obstruction passage-way or tunnel. The floor of this compartment consists of wire grids to enable the animal to be shocked. The upper ceiling is movable so that the height of the tunnel can be adjusted to suit different animals. The tunnel ends in a one-way door.

bullet

The final incentive compartment into which the animal enters through the one-way  door.

bullet

An electrical system to provide electrical shock of variable intensity.

bullet

Made from high quality sunmica laminated ply.
