Various types of mazes are used to study the learning behaviour of small animals, specially mice.

Medicraft Electro Medicals P. Ltd. in its effort to contribute their services in the field of medical research offers various mazes such as rectangular maze, multiple 'Y' maze or labyrinth maze, 'Y' maze and also elevated plus maze.

The Medicraft Elevated Plus maze, Model No. 520, is simple in design und is user friendly. It consists of four arms in shape of '+', hence its name, mounted on a stand such that its floor is well above the working base floor. This induces fear of height in the animal.

The plus arms, so formed, consist of a central platform, where the mice is initially placed at the start of the trial.

Two opposite arms open and the rest two are covered with clear acrylic cover for observation.

Suitable infrared Emitters and Sensors along with micro-processor based circuit is used to display the data on Control unit.

Control Unit

Two pairs of IR Emitter and sensor employed to monitor complete entry of the animal in each of the arms, and one set is used for animal detection in the central platform.

The control unit displays amount of time spent in the open arms and the time spent in closed arm and the total time of trial on a 16 character 2 line LCD display.
