SHUTTLE BOX

Study of Avoidance Response

The MEDICRAFT SHUTTLE BOX is designed to study the avoidance behavior of the rats and mice in the laboratory.

The Medicraft Shuttle Box consists of a rectangular box/chamber which is divided into two sections, Each chamber so formed has its grid floor which can be electrified. The dividing wall is provided with an opening through which the animal crosses over from one chamber to another. This dividing wall and the sides of the chamber are opaque and the top of chamber is a hinged clear transparent plexiglass lid, through which the animal is placed in or removed from the chamber.

Each chamber can be illuminated and a sounder or speaker is at the centre top of the lid to produce acoustical stimulus .

A Controller Unit provides the necessary control functions.

General Features:

	The chambers can be illuminated left or right through the controller.
	The grid floors of either chamber can be charged through controller from minimum to maximum intensity.
	The level of acoustical stimulus intensity is also variable.
	The presence of animal in chamber is indicated on the panel of the controller.

The Controller Unit consists of all the necessary functional controls :

	Power ON-OFF switch.
	Variable On-Off Time-Period of stimulus presentation.
	Session - Trail Start - Stop push buttons.
	Left or Right chamber selector knob.
	Independent On-Off switches for acoustical, electrical and visual stimulus.
	Variable electrical and audible intensity control knobs.
	Indicators for all the functions provided on the controller’s panel.

	The instrument operates from 220 V.AC.,50 Hz.
	Electrical stimulus intensity ,0-150 V. R.m.s. with current limiting.
	Variable acoustical intensity level.
	ON Time-Period,varible,0 to 10 seconds.
	OFF Time-Period,variable,0 to 30 seconds.

	Shuttle box : 650X300X350 mm.
	Working Chambers : 300X250X300.mm.
